10 Additional Aircrafts For Ibom Air -Emmanuel
Akwa Ibom State Government has said that plan is on to purchase 10 new A220-300 Air Buses to add to the existing fleet of the Ibom Air.
The State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel dropped the hint over the weekend while speaking at the 85th birthday of the Paramount Ruler of Eket Local Government Area, Obong Etim Charles Daniel Abia.
“As I’m leaving here, we’re signing fresh agreements that will give us 10 brand new A220-300 Air buses, so that even when I leave office, it will remain as an enduring legacy,” the governor stressed.
On November 3rd, 2021, the management of Ibom Air, welcomed the airline’s one-millionth passenger on board flight number IAN4134 departing from Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The governor said records of the state’s finances show that his administration had performed well with the construction companies handling projects in the state.
Regrettably, he noted that the issues of climate and weather conditions, the Covid pandemic and other natural occurrences had impacted on the pace of works.
“People have said a lot of things about developments and projects. Your Majesty, we have had major challenges in the past two years that we never envisaged in governance.
“The whole of 2020, nobody could do much because of Covid. That took us into 2021 and in 2021 we were so poised for infrastructure development, but the volume of rainfall has been unprecedented.” he lamented.
The governor also disclosed his determination to ensure quality was not compromised in the Eket stadium project, international market project, roads and other development programmes in Eket LGA, stressing that the peculiarities of the terrain is being taken into consideration to ensure works done stand the test of time.
Appealing for patience, Mr Emmanuel assured that all the projects would be delivered and appreciated long after his tenure.
Governor Emmanuel congratulated Obong Abia on his 85th birthday and spoke glowingly of the endearing characteristics of the Eket patriarch.

Kalabari Media Forum Hails Recognition Of Dokubo Asari As Amayanabo
The Kalabari Media Forum has endorsed the recognition of Alabo, Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo Asari as the Amayanabo of Torusarama Piri and the historical relevance of the award.
A communique issued after the 2024 end of year summit of the Forum also commends the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialaye Joseph Fubara for the recognition which they described as the best end of year gift to the Kalabari people.
The Communique signed by the Coordinator of the Forum, Alabo Dagogo Clinton and the Secretary, Mr. Harry Awolayeofori Macmorrison states that the gesture should make the Kalabari people to get back to the drawing board and consolidate on existing inter and intra communal peace within the region.
According to the statement, Torusarama Piri was the first place where the founding fathers of Kalabari converged from different cultures, tribes and backgrounds. Adding that those saying that the Kalabari people are not united should think again.
” As the different founding fathers were able to form a formidable ethnic nationality, modern day Kalabari should be able to sink the differences between the constituent communities and with other non-Kalabari speaking neighbours to achieve the needed internal cohesion for development”. It states.
The Forum further congratulated Alabo Asari Dokubo on his recognition and urged him to use the opportunity to do even more for the Kalabari people and Rivers State as a whole.
According to the statement, the Forum is happy with the recognition of Dokubo Asari not because he is one of the patrons of the Forum, but because he is about the most Kalabari-centric figure living, who has also committed enormous resources for the protection of the Kalabari people.
They urged the Kalabari Se Kobiri and the entire people of the ethnic nationality to work with Alabo Dokubo Asari and put to rest speculations about Kalabari that some persons have exploited against the interest of the Kalabari people over the years.
