Stakeholders Tasked On Speedy Dispensation Of Justice
Stakeholders in criminal justice system have been told that speedy dispensation of justice would assist to decongest correctional centre
The newly posted controller of corrections, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr Julius Ezugwu, during his maiden inspection visit at Uyo Custodial Centre in Uyo, appealed for more collaborations among stakeholders in the criminal justice system to ensure speedy dispensation of justice which will help to decongest Correctional Centres in Akwa Ibom State.
The newly posted controller of corrections commended them for their diligent hard work and believed they would look into the issue and make sure speedy dispensation of justice was done.
Mr Julius Ezugwu, who assumed duty as the 16th Controller of correction, Akwa Ibom State Command, said his visit kick-started his tour of correctional facilities in the state which is necessary to check and upgrade them, if necessary, while commending his officers for their diligence at making sure they continued to keep the integrity of the command.
In the same vein, while at Uyo Correctional Centre, the Controller received the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Affairs, Dr Ini Adiakpan, who came to officially present rehabilitation tools given by Akwa Ibom women to commemorate the birth anniversary of Her Excellency, Dr ( Mrs) Martha Udom Emmanuel. During the presentation, Dr Adiakpan said, “women under her leadership were here to identify with the indigent in order to support the charity work of Her Excellency”.
Speaking further, she said that after reformation, there is need to assist inmates with rehabilitation tools to complete the rehabilitation process.
She also promised to pay fines for inmates with option of fine.
