Bishop Ordains 10 Catholic Priests
Port Harcourt Diocese of
the Catholic Church last weekend ordained ten priests at the Corpus Christi Cathedral in Port Harcourt.
Those ordained at a ceremony performed by the Catholic Bishop of Port Harcourt, Most Rev. C. A. Etokudoh include, Reverends Aloysius Ugoh, Paul Nwankwoala, Paschal Nwuju, Nwambo Legbo, Philip Okwai, Emmanuel John, Vincent Egeonu, Pius Nwako, Christian Okechukwu and Denis Sebeate.
In an address at the occasion, the chairman of the Laity Council of Port Harcourt Diocese, Joe Alawa charged the new priests to do their best in the work of God bearing in mind that the journey had just begun.
The Laity Council chairman said, “Don’t allow yourselves to be distracted from the Lord to the secular world. The task before you calls for prayerfulness, tolerance, dialogue and cooperation. As new entrants into the priesthood, there is need for solidarity and goodwill among you.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Hon. John Anucha presented two Camry cars to two indigenes of the area ordained as priests at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Port Harcourt. The two priests are Reverends Christian Okechukwu and Paschal Nwuju.
Making the presentation, Hon. Anucha said it had become a tradition of the local government council to support Omuma sons ordained into priesthood with cars to assist them carry out the work of evangelism.
According to him, “this is to set a pace for the younger ones to emulate” and urged Omuma youths to be of good behaviour and embrace God in all they do while enjoining the newly ordained priests to emulate the good examples of their older colleagues.
Anucha charged the new priests to use the cars to spread the gospel and make the people of Omuma proud in the discharge of their duties.
