Uniport VC Warns Students Against Vices
The authorities of the Universitiy of Port Harcourt have warned students of the university against involvement in antisocial vices.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Don Baridam handed down this warning at the 30th matriculation ceremony of the institution.
Prof. Baridom said that the long arm of the rules and regulations of the university will catch up with students who indulge themselves in acts inimical to their academic development.
“Students who may wish to engage in examination malpractice, indecent dressing, alcoholism, prostitution and truancy should get ready for the long arm of the rules and regulations governing the terms of their admission into this university,” he said.
The vice chancellor further warned against forgery of certificates by students with the view to getting admission into the university, stressing that any student who involve in such act will be flushed out at the appropriate time, in his words: “Those of you who may have forged the papers with which you gained admission into the university should not celebrate for to long.
“This is because the University of Port Harcourt has a self-regulating mechanism to fish out and flush out such academic pretenders at the appropriate time.”
He urged them to show in words and deeds that their admission into the university was not by error.
A total of 4,889 students participated in the programme.
