Tina Ogbonna, a beautician says, giving the face a special treatment is not new. Over the centuries, women of different races have used herbs, clay and even roots to treat their faces. Although there are packaged facial masks that can be bought from shops, the home-made ones still enjoy great patronage because it offers the user the opportunity to be creative and adventurous. Most importantly, they are fresh. Ogbonna says every woman should take interest in preserving the sparkle and supple looks on her face. The facial mask, she said, help a lot in this regard. According to her, facial masks can be medicated, soothing or stimulating. Generally they have potentials to refine the skin, stimulate circulation, unclog pores and cleanse whatever impurties that may have accumulated. A medicated mask, being highly medicinal, does a world of good for lifeless or disturbed skin. Although, teenagers are more prone to harassed skin, it can be used for all age, if you use a soothing mask, your skin must be on the mature side, your age not withstanding. Mature skin, has a tendency to go loose. A soothing mask does the job of tightening the pores and removing the chaff, usually associated with dry skin. Some masks are simply stimulating, capable of putting a sparkle and a fresh look on your face. They aid circulation. For a soothing mask, here is the recipe: egg white and honey. Beat the egg white until it is stiff, stir in a teaspoonful of honey before you put the mixture on your face. Stay with the mask for twenty minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Although it may be stricky, this makes it great for tightening lax pores. Medicated mask Your face could get puffy after a tiring day. And cutting pimples can give you some bruises. If you are suffering from any of these, this mask certainly is for you. All you need is egg white. Beat the egg white slightly and spread it on your face and neck for five minute. Rinse with cold water and your face comes fresh. Stimulating Mask: The ingredients needed are simple. You can either mix raw oatmeal with enough buttermilk to make a paste or you can mash oatmeal with grated cucumber until the cucumber juice moistens it enough to make it stick to your face. After spreading it, leave it for fifteen minutes. Rinse it off. However, stress and depression do not favour a woman’s face. A woman needs to take time off to really rest and have a good night sleep. In one night, six hours should be devoted to sleep. The beauty in a well rested face, cost little or nothing. Water, also keeps the face and the skin fresh. In a day taking between six to eight glasses of water is commendable. Whatever a woman does, her face needs to be kept fresh and supple. She stands to gain a lot. Good compliments.
