Uduaghan Tasks Deltans On Unity
Delta State governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has called on ethnic groups in the state to shun bickering and come together to move the state forward. Dr. Uduaghan who made the call while addressing the Anioma Political Forum in Asaba said it was only when all the ethnic nationalities forged a common front that the state could, explore its potentials. He said he cherishes peace and unity and believes that his administration could only achieve political, economic and cultural unity when everyone dreams and preaches peace. The governor said there was no way any ethnic group would live in isolation and urged those in Delta South, Central and North to be each others keeper. Promising to support all ethnic nationalities to achieve their aspirations, Dr. Uduaghan urged them to engage more in things that would unite the state rather than things that would tear it apart. Speaking further he said “I appreciate unity, peace and love among ethnic nationalities in the state. Please come together as one to move the state forward.” The governor however enjoined all those opposed to the construction of the Asaba Airport to have a rethink as the airport when completed would open more economic opportunities in the state. Dr. Uduaghan who promised to complete the airport said nothing would derail him not even the dissenting voices in the state. Continuing he said “Those opposing the airport, Holy Ghost fire. Those who don’t want this airport to see the light of the day, holy ghost fire” The governor however promised that development would flow from Asaba to other communities in the state. In his remarks the interim chairman of Anioma Political Forum, Prof. B.I.C Ijoma said the forum would work with other ethnic nationalities to promote peace and unity in the state. Prof Ijoma urged the governor to always consult widely and advocated for strict adherence to the principle of rotation of political power in the state. He indicated the interest of Anioma political forum to support the governor for a second term.
