One of the steps taken, according to him, include the formation of vigilantee groups recognised by people that are keeping the peace in the area.
Chief Agbaru, a one-time secretary to the Rivers State Government, explained that members of the vigilantee who were drawn from every sections of the community were thoroughly screened by the police, noting that they have the mandate to safeguard the community against any form of threat to peace.
The Ogbakor Ikwerre Chief, however, urged those who want the community to be crisis-ridden to have a rethink of their action.
He reminded all that the vigilantee was not there to harm anyone but to guide against the resurgence of violence at Rumuekpe.
Meanwhile, the Pan Ikwerre socio-cultural organization has commended the people of Rumuekpe for turning out en mass to participate in the ongoing voters registration exercise.
