Princewill Exols Amaechi, Tinubu’s Leadership Qualities
The former leader of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, has extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Chibuike Amaechi, Senator Bola Tinubu and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Princewill in a press statement said, former Governor of Lagos, Senator Bola Tinubu has been able to uplift development and democratic awareness not only in Lagos State where he served as governor but the entire South West, stressing that Governor Amaechi of Rivers State ‘is currently doing the same in the state.
The former AC leader said Amaechi has changed the fortunes and landscape of Rivers State in less than four years, noting that it would be assiduous task and challenge for any other politician to equal it.
He said since he left opposition to support Amaechi in Rivers State, he has not seen any other strong opposition that can match the strong storm of the governor who has reshaped the state.
Princewill described Abiye Sekibo’s ambition to contest against Amaechi as a joke, adding that the former secretary to the state government and former minister would be surprised at the level he will fail.
The statement which was signed by the Media Assistant, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze also described the defeated PDP Presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as master of politics in Nigeria.
He explained that Atiku’s vision has been to give the people the best of leadership and unite the country by ensuring that Niger Delta gets what is due them.
On the future of Nigerian democracy, Princewill said he would want to see a situation where Labour Party (LP), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), CPC and ANPP unite to offer an alternative to the PDP in the next election.
On the hiccups witnessed in the on-going voters registration, he said some of it has been sorted out and said with the extension, no person will give excuse that he or she has not registered.

NASS Sets Date For 2025 Budget Passage
Chairman, Senate committee on appropriations, Sen. Solomon Adeola, stated this on Monday in Abuja at a meeting with the chairmen of standing committees in the Senate.
According to him, Jan. 31 is the date for laying of reports on the appropriation bill before the Senate and the House of Representatives.
He said upon resumption from Christmas and New Year break on Jan. 14, both chambers of the national assembly would suspend plenary for two weeks for budget defence by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
Sen. Adeola also said that NASS had fixed Jan. 9 for an open day on the budget to enable various stakeholders, aside heads of MDAs, to make inputs on the budget.
“A tentative time table has been drawn for consideration of the budget at committee level.
“Budget defence sessions begin from Jan. 7, while reports from various committees are expected to be submitted from 15th to 18th of this month.
“Afterwards, collation and tidying up of the various reports will be done by the appropriation committee, with the hope of laying final report on the budget at the Senate on 31st of this month.
“However, the 31st of January fixed for laying of the budget is tentative, as it is just given to guide our work,” he said.
The principal officers of the Senate who attended the meeting included: the Deputy Leader, Sen. Lola Ashiru and Senate Whip, Sen. Tahir Monguno.
They said that the timeframe for consideration and passage of the 2025 budget by the national assembly was short.
They, however, expressed hope on the timely passage of the budget.
The committee, thereafter, went into a closed door session with chairmen of the various standing committees in the Senate.
