Uduaghan Orders Contractor Out Of Site
Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has ordered the contractor handling the Sapele Township Stadium to stop work and pack out of site.
The governor, who gave the order while inspecting on-going construction work at the stadium, expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of the work.
Alternatively, he directed that the stadium, which ought to have been completed in 2009,be handled through direct labour.
Governor Udughan thereafter instructed the engineer in the state’s Sports Commission to liaise with her counterpart in the Ministry of Housing to do the costing of completing the project through direct labour.
In terminating the contract, the governor who was visibly told an engineer of the contracting firm that it was obvious the job will not be completed;
Stabilini, move out of site. By the way you are going, you cannot complete this project as scheduled.
You have been fully paid and work ought to have been completed two years ago. Please move out of site now.”
It was observed that only a few staff of stabilini Vi sionini was seen in the main bowl planting grass on the turf, when the governor visited.
Governor Uduaghan had, while inspecting Sector A of the Ughelli/Asaba road dualisation project, expressed his administration’s readiness to complete the Sapele Stadium before April.
He also reiterated the adminstration’s determination to complete all majore read all major on-going projects.
