‘CARNIRIV To Become World-Class Event’
Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Touriism, Dr Nabbas Imegwu has raterated the state commitment towards making the CARNIRIV a world class event. The commissioner stated this Friday during the inauguration of the media and publicity committee of this year’s edition of the cultural fiesta.
He noted that the objective is to ensure that rich cultural heritage and values of the people of the state were preserved for posterity saying that the state would soon become a tourist heaven.
Dr Imegwu charged members of the media and publity committee to dedicate their time and energies towards providing the best publicity for the world class event slated for the end of the year.
The commissioner noted that the choice of the members of the committee was informed by their track record in organising the event and urged them to make the state proud.
According to him, “The success of the 2011 CARNIRIV rests in the ability of the media to mobilize our people towards participating in the carnival.
Responding on behalf of the committee, its chairperson Ms Mediline Tador assured the state government that the committee would discharge its duties effectively and efficiently.
Tador assured that the committee would ensure that CARNIRIV becomes a stamp of quality and excellence that would endear itself to the people.
She however, commended the state government for giving them the opportunity to serve the state
Other members of the committee include, Paulinus Nsirim, Oberenachi, Ekeke, Gloria Ogan, Feddy Ndigbara, Ikechukwu Nwanze and Chris Fynebone.
