For Nigeria to actualise its dream of becoming one of the first twenty nations of the world in 2020, there is need for proper character moulding especial amongst youths.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon Nathaniel Imegwu who stated this in his office yesterday said the involvement of youths in social vices demanded that more should be done in the direction of moulding character.
Hon. Imegwu who received a delegation from League of Character Clubs Nigeria on a courtesy visit challenged the club and other non-governmental organisations in the country to redouble their efforts in giving proper direction to youths in the interest and future of the country.
He regretted that several incidents across the country involving youths called for rethink for them to succeed in life, and advised Nigerian youths to shun acts capable of tarnishing their personal and family image as well as that of Nigeria as a nation.
The commissioner who commended the club for making character moulding its key mandate stressed the need for the character club to extend its programmes and activities to the rural areas and assured the club of government’s support.
