… Charges Christians To Shun Materialism
Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, has charged Christians to shun materialism and focus on maintaining a good name and upright character.
Engr. Ikuru gave this charge yesterday during a funeral ceremony for late Mrs. Margaret Nkomadu , mother of Chief Anthony Umesi, a Director in the State Ministry of Lands and Survey, at Rumuewhor Odegu in Emohua Local Government Area of the State.
He attributed her longevity to the sterling virtues exhibited by her during her lifetime, saying “the fact that Mama lived up to 90 years and had children and grand children indicates that she lived a good life,” noting that “a person’s worth is not in the amount of money he has but the level of respect he earned in the society while alive”.
The Deputy Governor enjoined late Mrs. Nkomadu’s children to emulate the virtues of their mother, condoling with them on “the irreparable loss”.
Earlier, in a sermon taken from Ecclesiastes 3: 1-5, the General Overseer of Christ Victory Church International, Bishop Theophilus Okor, enjoined the people to maintain a godly life, show love to others and serve humanity faithfully like Mrs. Nkomadu, pointing out that
“there is time for everything on earth,” adding that the life we enjoy is not our own; and we would give account of how we lived to the Creator who gave the life in the end”.
Speaking, the chief mourner, Chief Anthony Umesi, thanked the Deputy Governor and others who came to pay his mother the last respect, observing that his mother’s was a life
to positively impacted the lives of people while she was alive.
