Cleric Lauds Programme For Ex-Militants
A cleric Prophet Azubike Saint-Clinton lauded the Federal Government’s amnesty programme for ex-militants in the Niger Delta saying the programme has facilitated the pace of peace in the region.
Saint-Clinton stated this in a sermon during the 4th anniversary celebration of Christ Reformation Assembly in Port Harcourt recently.
The man of God who is the General Overseer of the church noted that President Goodluck Jonathan-led government was able to sustain the peace entrenched in the region through the amnesty programme, which has brought succour and change in the lives of ex-militants.
He said: “The government of Jonathan has been able to handle some of the problems that militated against the peaceful co-existence of the people of the Niger Delta and I believe that if given more time, he would add more credit to what he has done”.
The cleric also hailed the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the relative peace being experienced in parts of the state, noting that the era when people slept with one eye open was over and advised him to persuade the security agencies in the state to beef security of lives and properties of the people.
“Peace is today reigning in the state, particularly in Port Harcourt as against the past years when there were hostilities all over the place”, he said and called on the people of the state to support the Amaechi-led administration to continue with its good work in the current year.
Recounting the achievements recorded by his church in the past four years, the reverend gentleman said “God has been so good, merciful, kind and precious to us and He gave us a great joy that empowered us to worship Him”, adding “within the period, we reached out and saved many souls for Christ”.
He reminded Christians of the need to show more concern in the service of God, saying that they should have trust in God while remaining focused and steadfast.
