Monarch Tasks Kalabaris On Peace
The Kalabari monarch, King T.J.T Princewill has enjoined the people of Kalabari kingdom to sustain the existing peace in the area in order to attract development projects.
King Princewill made the call last weekend in Buguma while honouring some prominent indigenes of the area as part of activities to mark his 10th Anniversary on the throne.
Speaking at the ceremony, King Princewill said the awards were intended to give honour to whom it was due, saying that the awardees have distinguished themselves in the various endeavours, and enjoined them to keep up the spirit.
He said their activities had made every Kalabari man proud, and called on other sons and daughters of the kingdom to emulate them.
The Kalabari monarch, who is also the chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers lauded the people for maintaining the peace inorder to attract more development to the kingdom. Making a remark on one of the awardees, permanent secretary, Ministry of Transport, Dr Somiari Isaac Harry, the King noted that the recipient distinguished himself excellently as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs, adding that it was his ingenuity and mastery on crisis management that resulted to the resolving of the many chieftaincy tussles that bedeviled the state.
Speaking in an interview, Dr Isaac-Harry described the award as unique and expressed gratitude to God for the honour, assuring that he would not relent in distinguishing himself, and would also endeavour to uphold the tenets and excellent performance that earned him the award.
He enjoined all to unite and be their brother’s keeper for progress and development.
Others honoured at the ceremony enclude the Commissioner for Urban Development, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Charles Okeye, Brigadier General Williams Obere and Hon. David Briggs amongst others.
