UNIPORT Home Coming Event Holds Friday … University Set to Honour 18 Nollywood Stars
All is now set for the Home Coming event of the Old Boys and Girls of the University of Port Harcourt organised by the university in collaboration with the Rivers State chapter of the Alumni Association scheduled for Friday.
A release made available to newsmen yesterday in Port Harcourt and jointly signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mrs Matilda Nnodim and chairman of the organising committee of the event, Hon. Ike Chinwo, indicated that the event would enable members of the association to show appreciation to God for His mercies since their graduation from the university.
The release further indicated that President Goodluck Jonathan, Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, would be Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour, respectively, while the Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, is expected as the Special Guest.
The Home Coming Event will also feature an alumni lecture on Leadership and Good Governance to be delivered by Nimi Wariboko, Catherine B Start, Professor of Christian Ethics, Andover Newton Theological School, Massachusetts, USA, under the distinguished chairmanship of the Managing Director, Diamond Bank Plc, to be followed by a guided tour of projects, luncheon and networking against others.
Prince Tonye Princewill is also expected to be the chief launcher of the alumni centre at the ceremony which will be hosted by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Joseph Ajienka at the Ebitimi Banigo Hall, at the Main Campus of the institution, by 10.00am.
Meanwhile, the University of Port Harcourt is set to honour about 18 Nollywood and entertainment stars who are all products of the university.
Those to be honoured include, Hilda Dokubo, Ejike Asiegbu, Juliet Ibe, Yibo Koko, Sam Dede, Charles Okafor, Hancelot Imasuem, Basorge Tariah Jnr and Clem Ohaneze.
Others are Victor Osuagwu, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Mike Ogbolosingha, Julius Agwu, Francis Duru, Rita Dominic, Monaliza Chinda, Thelma Okoduwu and Patrick Otoro.
The award ceremony is part of activities marking the 28th convocation of the university.
