DAAR Group, Garden City FM Commiserate With The Tide
The Management of DAAR Communication Port Harcourt has commiserated with the Management of the Rivers State newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Tide Newspaper over the recent fire incident which destroyed part of the Corporation’s building.
The Director, Southern Operation of DAAR Communications, Mr. Felix Mamude Akuga who in an interview with newsmen shortly after a visit to the Corporation, described the situation as a big loss not only to the Corporation but to the government and people of Rivers State.
“I am overwhelmed by the level of destructions that have taken place here. Like we say from every destruction, we tried to get up and continue with the struggle.
“We want to believe that, this misfortune that has befallen our colleagues, we want to say that they will rise from this and rise even better from this”, he said.
Mr. Akuga said that the management of DAAR Communication is deeply touched by the incident and appealed to the Rivers State Government to take all necessary steps to ensure that the building is immediately rebuild.
He also advised the staff and management of the Corporation to see the incident as a challenge to move ahead.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Mr. Celestine Ogolo thanked the DAAR Management for their show of concern, stressing that despite the incident, the management would continue to do its best to keep the Corporation afloat.
Meanwhile the management of Radio Port Harcourt 91.7 has described as very painful the recent fire incident which gutted down part of the building housing the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Publishers of The Tide Newspapers.
The Chief operating officer of the Radio, Mr. Kester Buzube who said this during a courtesy call on the General Manager of the Corporation also said that the management of the Radio is pained by the incident.
Mr. Buzube described The Tide as an institution that has contributed so much towards the development of Port Harcourt.
“Tide is much more than a Newspaper to people from this area. Tide is an institution and Radio Port Harcourt was basically established to respect and help build all those institutions that have made Port Harcourt what it has become”, he said.
He said that, the top management of the Radio House decided to visit the Corporation to commiserate with the management over the unfortunate incident.
“It is a major pain for us, that’s why the top management team from our place have come here today to see you as a good friend”, he said.
Responding the General Manager of the Corporation, Mr. Celestine Ogolo described the visit as soul lifting and used the occasion to thank the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Ibim Semenitari for her assistance to the Corporation.
