Ministry Organises Pre-Budget Workshop, Monday
As part of plans to improve the
knowledge of civil servants on budgeting, Rivers State Ministry of Budget and
Economic Planning has announced that it will organize a workshop for civil
servants in the budget field.
The workshop to be hosted at ICT
training centre will have its opening ceremony at the Ministry of Justice
conference hall, Port Harcourt on September 24, 2012 captioned “Pre-Budget
Workshop” and to be declared open by the state Commissioner for Budget and
Economic Planning, Hon. Gogo Levi Charles by 9.00am
The Governor of Rivers State, Rt.
Hon. Chibuike Amaechi will unveil the New Template for 2013 Budget Preparation.
The workshop, according to a press
statement, will be hosted in partnership with a renowned budget software
consultant, M-R International Nigeria Limited and will be conducted for three
weeks in separate sessions.
This is in line with the on-going
effort of the Rivers State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning to
transit to Budget Planning, Preparing, Implemention and Monitoring software
usage.
“This workshop is very crucial to
the continued effort of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi-led administration to
further develop human capacity in public service, as well as build a solid rock
institution that is a bedrock of sustainable democratic governance”.
The statement stressed that the
workshop will enable the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to plan
and prepare for their budget on time, adding “this is because all the necessary
information needed for the preparation are ready in their Computer System.”
The workshop will be key in the
series of regular workshops and seminars the Ministry of Budget and Economic
Planning will be organizing for Budget Officers in the Rivers State Civil
Service.
