Ogunsakin Lauds Dep Gov Over Police Post
Rivers State Deputy Gov
ernor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, has been commended for his support to security agencies in the state in the efforts at assuring the security of lives and property across the state.
The commendation came from the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, while commissioning a newly constructed police post, barracks and patrol vehicle in Ikuru Town in Andoni Local Government Area of the State.
Accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Mr. Mohammed Ali, Commander of the state Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), Superintendent Razak Oseni, and the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, Ogunsakin praised the deputy governor and the Ikuru community for their concerted effort at facilitating the construction of the Ikuru Town Police Station, stressing that it will help in the security of the community and its environs.
The state police commissioner thanked the deputy gov. for the interest he put to ensure that the police station was ready, promising that the Force will make judicious use of the facility to ensure the security of lives and property in the area”.
Ogunsakin called on the Ikuru community to be security conscious, assuring that “we will ensure security in this placebut everybody must be watchful in the sense that whatever strange movement or anybody that comes into this community, it is your responsibility to alert the police, in other words you must continue to partner and synergise with the police to ensure that you have a crime-free environment in this place”.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikuru, had cited, among others, the strategic location of the town which, according to him, shares a border with Fernando Po in . Equatorial Guinea and Cameroun in addition to the over 180 oil wells situated around the community as reasons behind the move to build the police station.
Speaking, the Paramount Rler of Ikuru Town, King Aaro Ikuru, promised that Ikuru people will give officers and men of the Police post the needed cooperation and assistance “in every conceivable way to ensure that you do your job happily.”
