Surveyor Tasks Building Professionals On ICT
A stakeholder in the
built environment, Mr. Frank Okwu, has charged colleagues in the housing sector to increase investment in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
He has also urged professional colleagues to embrace ICT fully, so as to enhance efficiency in their jobs and for better performance.
Okwu, who made this known while speaking at a forum on housing in Port Harcourt noted that a lot of professionals in the sector have not fully embraced ICT in their operations, and urged them to adopt the ICT standard for effective performance.
He said that modern surveying tools should be used for effective work delivery, taking into consideration the modern trends and changes that are taking place across the globe.
Okwu who is a quantity surveyor by training, also called on governments at all levels to also invest more in ICT infrastructure, as well as encourage professionals by providing modern equipment that are required for quick and effective work delivery.
“Government should adhere strictly to the submissions of professionals in the built environment. Most of the irregularities being noticed in the building industry is as a result of the neglect of professionals in the process of project execution,” he said.
The quantity surveyor, however, urged all professionals in the building industry to imbibe the spirit of team work for effective work delivery, and also stressed the need that integrated team work will ensure a more perfect project delivery.
He also urged the state government to strengthen and equip the quantity surveying departments in its institutions.
