Viewing Centre Disaster: Ayade Fulfills Promise To Community

Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has in fulfiment of his promise to the people of Nyangasang community released an undisclosed amount of money to the representatives of the community and finalised modalities to ensure that the immediate relatives of the deceased victims are not cheated out of what is accrued to them.
Governor Ayade, who had earlier pledged the sum of N20 Million released an undisclosed amount through a three-man team set up to drive the process to an effective end, stating that the state identifies with the community and the misfortune that has befallen it, especially the promising young men and women.
Presenting the cash donation to the different facets of the Nyangasang community, on behalf of the State Governor, at the State Ministry of Information and Orientation, the Commissioner, Mrs. Rosemary Archibong said that modalities had been worked out by the appropriate authority of the UCTH for the transfer of Mr. Ferdinand Anok who suffered a first degree burn to South Africa for adequate medical attention.
Mrs. Archibong disclosed that the government of Cross River State under the Prof. Ben Ayade- led administration is people-oriented and identifies with the plight of Cross Riverians at any point of their lives, adding that Governor Ayade is extremely interested in the wellbeing of the people.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Power, Hon. Thomas Ugar Udam expressed his sympathy to the people of Nyangasang community, describing the incident as painful and sad.
He noted that the dark Thursday would forever be remembered by Cross Riverians, pointing out that the extent of the pains in the heart of Governor Ayade prompted his kind gesture to assist in saving the victim’s life
Responding on behalf of the Nyangasang community, the Clan Head, Bishop Umeh, appreciated the state Governor for identifying with them in the moment of pains and for keeping to his promises, adding that the community would maximally support the government of Ben Ayade.
He promised that every household in the community would have a feel of the magnanimity and humility of the governor and appealed to the State government to also facilitate the building of a standard viewing centre as stated.
As a follow-up to the presentation of the cash donation to the representatives of the Nyangasang Community, the 3-man team made up of the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Rosemary Archibong; Commissioner for Power, Hon. Thomas Ugar Udam and Mr. Maurice Inok, visited the bereaved families of the victims.
