Group Drums Support For FG …Tasks IPOB On Peace
A Non-Governmental Organisation, the Niger Delta Youth Coalition (NDYC), has called on youth in the country to give the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari, time to rebuild the nation.
NDYC’s National Co-odinator, Prince Emmanuel Ogba, made the call in a statement released last Monday in Port Harcourt as part of the Democracy Day celebration .
He particularly called on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to toe the path the part of peace in their agitation, pointing out that there was need to give people of the South-Eastern Nigeria opportunity to produce the next president of the country.
The National Co-ordinator stated that various parts of the country were agitating for one thing or the other and explained that only equity, justice and fair play can address the numerous agitatios across the nation.
“50 years after the Nigeria civil war, the South-East Geo-political Zone remains the only zone among the six-geo-political zones that had not produced a president.
“It obviously gives the impression of marginalization and denial,” he said and advised that there must be balance in the distribution of amenities and appointments so as to give every part of the country good sense of pride and belonging.
He, however, maintained that unity of the nation is of prime importance and that in agitating for justice and equal right, there should not be any attempt towards division of the country.
The challenges confronting Nigeria, he said, demands that all hands must be on deck to confront it, irrespective of religion, party or ethnic differences.
