Monarch Moves To Promote Peace In Community
The Onye-Ishi Ala Chokota Igboh Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area, of Rivers State, Eze Ishmael O. Nweke, has promised to liaise with security agencies to ensure the sustenance of peace in the area.
Eze Nweke, who said this shortly after being elevated to the status of a second class traditional ruler in Igboh Kingdom, by the Onye-Ishi-Agwuru Igboh Kingdom HRM Eze (Dr) Samuel Amaechi also pledged to work for the speedy development of the area.
Meanwhile, Eze Nweke has urged for dedication and commitment by the chiefs and people of Chokota towards the development of the area.
He said this while conferring chieftaincy titles on some deserving sons of the community.
The traditional ruler also stressed the need for them to avoid any thing that would pitch the community against its neighbours.
“You know that the responsibility of a Chief in the community, clan and kingdom is to maintain peace and order at all times and in all circumstances.
“You shall defend the laws of the land and be truthful in all circumstances.
He also warned against all forms of illegality in the area, stressing that anything that will tarnish the image of the Chokota Council of Chiefs must be avoided.
Earlier, Chairman of the occasion, Associate Professor Ken Nweke urged the newly elevated Monarch to use his position to attract development to the area.
Associate Professor Nweke particularly lamented the poor state of the Chokota-Ikwerrengwo road and described the community as the most backward in Etche ethnic nationality inspite of its abundant material and human resources.
Among those honoured with Chieftaincy titles by the Chokota Monarch include, Light Chinwenedu conferred with title of Eze Oriji 1 of Chokota, Osundu Azunonwu who bagged Eze Ogbuhere Uzo 1 of Chokota and Nwobilor Umeri who was conferred with title of Eze Ochiri Ozuo 1 of Chokota.
