Nde Trains 100 In Agric, Environmental Beautification
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Rivers State has commenced training for over 100 participants under its Rural Employment Promotion (REP).
The 100 participants selected from across 23 local government areas in the state are to be trained on the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) for three months.
Acting Director-General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by Mr Nkem Ekeamadi at the flag off of the training in Port Harcourt, urged beneficiaries of the programme to harness the opportunities in the agricultural sector.
He charged supervisors of the scheme in the state to ensure the full implementation of the programme.
Earlier in his address, State Coordinator of NDE in Rivers State, Dr Udoh, Alfred Udoh, challenged the beneficiaries to utilise opportunity provided to make wealth through the agricultural sector.
He appealed to the state government, multi-nationals and well-meaning individuals to partner with the agency towards achieving its goals.
The Tide reports that the directorate also launched the same day its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS) under the Special Public Works (SPW) department for 46 other participants in Port Harcourt.
Mr Kenneth Okafor, who delivered the Director General’s keynote address, urged the beneficiaries to take the training serious and exploit it for their daily sustenance.
He emphasised that the EBTS was well conceived to boost job creation.
Mr Okafor said that the EBTS training was well packaged to be a self-sufficient training that can make those who are serious minded millionaires because of the business opportunities that abound in the programme.
