The members of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, have called on multi-national oil companies operating in the state to relocate their operational headquarters to Port Harcourt, saying that the massive opening of roads by the present administration led by Governor Nyesom Wike has brought in a secure environment.
The state Chairman of the Traditional Rulers and Amanyanabo of Opobo, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja made the call during an interactive session between members of the state council of traditional rulers and participants of the Senior Executive Course 43 2021 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State held at the council’s auditorium in Port Harcourt, last Monday.
Douglas-Jaja opined that inequality in governance was responsible for the various separatists agitations across the entire country, adding that equity and fairness in the distribution of the nation’s wealth would go a long way in solving the nagging insecurity challenges confronting the nation at the moment.
He urged all Nigerians to preach peace and unity of the country as no society can make any meaningful development devoid of peace and harmony, saying that it is better for us to dialogue and live in peace than to kill ourselves.
“Peace is priceless, we are aware of the country’s enemies who want to destroy us. Our unity is sacrosanct. From 1914 during the Amalgamation of the southern and northern parts, we have lived together.
Cattle rearers have now abandoned the bush part and now decided to follow farm parts where farmers crops are being destroy. Let me call them to go back to the old traditions of cattle rearing,” he stated.
The state traditional ruler told the visitors that the state government holds traditional ruler with high esteem which underscore the huge investment in the building of the gigantic edifice for the traditional institution.
