Group Extols Wike For Ending Abandoned Project Syndrome
A Group, Civil Society coalition on good governance, Budget and Accountability, has praised Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for ending the era of abandoned projects not just in Rivers State but the entire country.
Leader of the group, Dr Emmanuel Nkweke who said this during a legacy project tour to Asari Toru and Akuku Toru Local Government Areas respectively, said both the completed and on-going projects of the Governor were in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Nkweke said the coalition was delighted that all abandoned projects by previous administrations have been completed, adding that the governor has also promised that none of his projects will be abandoned.
He said that other governors across the country should learn from Governor Wike, who inspite of the economic situation in the country has placed Rivers State on a fast lane of development.
Nkweke listed areas the governor has touched on the lives of the people to include the construction of numerous roads and bridges across the state, improvement in healthcare delivery system of the state as well as making Rivers State the hub of the cassava industry in the nation.
He commended the people of Kalabari for their continuous support to the state government and called on it to be sustained.
Meanwhile, the coalition has planned a special legacy day in honour of Governor Nyesom Wike.
The group leader, Dr Emmanuel Nkweke who said this in an interview with newsmen said the celebration will kick off with visits to the orphanage and home for the elderly.
Also to be visited are the Nigerian Correctional Centre, the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, Rivers State University Teaching Hospital for the payment of medical bills and naming of children born on legacy days, while the activities will be rounded off on Thursday 28th August with a legacy day celebration at the Ministry of Justice Conference hall.
Meanwhile, in Buguma and Degema respectively, Chairman of Asari-Toru, Onengiyeofori George and his Degema counterpart, Michael John Williams said Governor Wike was the best thing that has happened to Rivers State.
They said the Kalabaris have benefited so much from the administration. They commended the group for coming up with the legacy day celebration and pledged their supports.
