Don Wants Dialogue With IPOB Over Insecurity
As a way of addressing the violence and insecurity in the South East, a university don and expert in economics at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof Godwin Nwaeke, has sued for dialogue.
In a chat with The Tide, Prof Nwaeke said whatever happens in the South-East will affect the economy because of the huge economic outlay located there.
Said he, “if the economy if the South East crumbles then Nigeria is in danger as well.”
He recommended a political solution rather than using force to crush the separatists’ agitation in the South East part of the country.
As far as he was concerned using force will worsen the situation and lead to more economic and social woes in that part of the country.
Advising Ibo leaders to also intervene, Prof Nwaeke stated that already, the Anambra elections was in jeopardy as lots of politicians were apprehensive over their safety.
He reasoned that if the Anambra elections were scuttled then it will affect the political fortunes of the region, as voters will be apprehensive to vote in future elections
Prof. Nwaeke added that lack of dialogue between the government and the Ibo leaders has worsened the situation in recent months, and advised all parties to come to the round table.
