LG Chairman Sues For Peace In Luebe, Luuwa, Bianu Communities …Places N1m Bounty On Information On Cultists
The Chairman of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, Dr Thomas Bariere, has charged the leadership of Luebe community as well as Luuwa and Bianu to join hands with government in the fight against insecurity.
Speaking, last Friday, at the town hall meeting convened by the Luebe Peace Committee at the Luebe town square, Bariere expressed displeasure over the sorry state of Luebe community as a result of cult-related clashes.
“Luebe community is one community in Khana LGA that had always been known for peace, but today, the case is no longer the same because of cult-related activities, children whom we as parents are supposed to be proud of, are now the ones bringing sorrow and anguish to this community.
“The identity of these youths terrorising this community is well-known to us all, they are our children, and they are our brothers as well as relatives.
“This is why, I am charging us to advise them to surrender their arms and turn a new leaf, because this administration is committed to fighting criminality in its totality”.
Bariere reiterated his commitment to gift communities the sum of N1million as reward for any cultist captured and handed over to security agencies, especially those who refused to surrender their arms.
“As we have done in other communities, any cultist who intends to surrender his arms can reach us through the paramount ruler or the peace committee, and once the peace process is completed, you will be declared a free man. But once you fail to surrender your arms, government will use all the resources at its disposal to come after you.
“On the other hand, any cultist who refuses to surrender arms to government, and you are able to capture and handover him to security agencies, you will be rewarded with the sum of N1million”, he pledged.
Similarly, the chairman of Khana LGA also visited Luuwa and Bianu communities to further preach the message of peace and forgiveness.
