Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, says he is committed to laying down good legacies he will be remembered for to consolidate on his achievements for the overall benefits of citizens in the state.
Akeredolu made the remark yesterday in Akure at an event organised by Groundbreaker Resources Limited in conjunction with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Akure, to celebrate Ondo State at 46.
The Tide source reports that Ondo State was created on Feb. 3, 1976.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said his administration since assuming office had remained committed to its promises of transforming Ondo state to its pride of place.
Akeredolu, who noted that Ondo State is ranked the 18th largest with the longest coastline in Nigeria, saluted the past military administrators and civilian governors for keeping the state afloat on the part of development.
He said to move forward with his “REDEEMED” agenda for a new Ondo State through industrialisation, the 18 local governments will be fully functional.
“Without boring us with a long speech about the history of the State, it is imperative I mention some key variables that put our State in a vantage position in Nigeria.
“Known as the “Sunshine State”, Ondo State is ranked 18th largest in Nigeria and has the longest coastline in Nigeria, with the economy dominated by petroleum industry, in addition to cocoa production, asphalt mining, and other activities.
“With the support of our people, we started the journey. The difference and impact we made on road infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education and many people-oriented projects earned us our second term in office.
“We will be celebrating our five years in the saddle in a couple of days. Thanks to the distinguished people of Ondo State, we even earned the name “MR ROAD” because of the level of road projects we embarked upon and many are still ongoing,” he said.
Earlier, the Guest Speaker, who is also a Professor of Constitutional and Electoral Law, Mr Rasheed Ijaodola, lauded Akeredolu for his focused leadership and called for more disciplined leaders to take Nigeria to its lofty heights.
Ijaodola emphasised the need for the youth to engage more in agriculture and government to improve on the educational standards of children.
An awardee at the event, Mr Benson David, appreciated the organisers for recognising him with the award of “philanthropist of the year” and promised not to relent in helping the society.
It was reported that awards were given to eminent personalities like the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, and Special Adviser to the Governor on Multi-lateral and Inter-governmental Affairs, Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu, for their various contributions to the development of the state.

According to he BPP Boss  the agency set up 17 years ago , precisely on the 14th of June 2007 , has been on the fore front  of  the war against corruption in the country, particularly those that have to do , with contracts awards , inflation and diversion.
His words ” BPP has within the last seventeen years been changing the landscape of public procurement in Nigeria by ensuring transparency , fairness and efficiency on contracts awards and execution .
