Be Faithful In Duties, Adventist Boss Charges Women

Published

on

The Director, Adventist Women’s Ministries, West Central Africa Division, Mrs Omobonike Adeola Sessou, has called on women to uphold the tenets of faithfulness in the discharge of their professional duties.
Delivering a sermon on the sidelines of the 2022 Emphasis Day of the Adventist Women’s Ministries (AWM) of the General Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church, “Mrs. Sessou urged women to “present themselves as instruments in the hands of God to deliver persons, situations or nations from calamities manipulated by the devil”.
Presenting the sermon at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Mile 1, Mrs Sessou, who was represented by Mrs Charity Ogori, took her lesson from Egyptian midwives in the Bible.
“Egyptian midwives, Shiphrah and Puah”, she said, “stood up for the right despite the order by the Egyptian King, Pharaoh, to kill the male children of the Hebrew women at delivery”, adding that this singular act saved the nation of Israel from extinction at the time.
She described Shiphrah and Puah as uncommon tools in the hands of God throughout Bible history, saying that “the beauty of the woman was manifested by her goodly and godly dispositions at duty posts”.
According to her, “women can exert a positive influence in their little corners that would thwart Satan’s purposes and bless the world, thereby leaving a legacy of blessings and faithfulness to us all in the secret pages of our lives.
“A woman who fears God is a power for good. Beauty without the fear of God is a disaster. To fear God means to acknowledge Him as supreme and Lord of our lives who alone is worthy of our allegiance, obedience and worship”, she said.
Sessou said “as daughters of God, we may not see the instant results of being faithful to Him in the world full of injustice. We may wonder if we are doing any good by staying faithful in the world full of praise for wickedness.”
“God is calling on each one of us to be like Shiphrah and Puah, standing against every evil. In the world in which we live, we will be tempted to make compromise of our faith to please others.
“It could be a situation in which we are asked to do something that is ethically wrong and for fear of losing our jobs or relationships, we conform. This year’s programme and sermon reaffirms the fact that God protects and blesses those who stand for what is right.
“Can God count on us when he needs us to serve Him through our faithfulness in our professions and in the daily routines of life?”, She rhetorized.
While noting that conformity to the will of God makes any work that must be done honourable, Sessou prayed God’s enabling grace on the women to stand in the gap and become voice of the voiceless and help of the helpless in both the private and public sectors.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Reports On SOLAD’s Sack

Published

on

The Rivers State Judiciary has denied claims of media reports online that a judge of its High Court issued a ruling in favour of Governor Siminalayi Fubara against former Governor Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu allegedly sacking the Sole Administrator of the State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd).
A statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the State High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi, on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, described the purported report as false and misleading, particularly for linking a judge of the State High Court, Justice Boma Diepiri, to a ruling that reportedly came from a Federal High Court.
According to the statement, Justice Diepiri is a Judge of the Rivers State High Court and not of the Federal High Court and currently on Easter vacation, which commenced on Monday, 14th April.
The Chief Registrar further clarified that the Federal High Court and the State High Court are separate entities, stressing that “the inclusion of Justice Diepiri’s name in the fabricated report underscores the crass ignorance of the author”.
The statement, signed by Ihua-Maduenyi, reads in part, “The attention of the Rivers State Judiciary has been drawn to a fake news report alleging that His Lordship, Hon. Justice Boma Diepiri, delivered a judgment sacking the Sole Administrator of Rivers State. This is false in its entirety.
“Justice Diepiri is a judge of the High Court of Rivers State, not of the Federal High Court as was falsely reported.
“Additionally, His Lordship is currently on Easter vacation which began on Monday, April 14, 2025”.
It advised the general public and members of the media to always cross checked information concerning the judiciary before publishing, and disregard the said report in its entirety, saying “its an embodiment of falsehood and fabricated story”.
