2023: Youth Council Seeks God’s Interventions
The National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), Okrika Local Government Area in partnership with The Youth Church, (TYC), in Rivers State on Monday organised a one-day fasting and praying programme to seek the face of God for the general election slated for next year.
The event with the theme, “ Youthfulness and Usefulness saw a lot of youth that came together and prayed to God at Okrika Grammar School, Youth Church.
Speaking with The Tide shortly after the event the Coordinator of NYCN, Okrika chapter, Comrade Jonathan Gunn Junior said that the basis of the fasting and praying was to seek God’s Intervention for the youth of Okrika for God to direct them during the general election.
He stated that whatever you do and do not seek the face of the Almighty, you cannot get it right, adding that they want to beg God for total peace in the area during and after the general election.
“We do not want any violence in our LGA during next year election. “Campaigns have started and we want our youth to play according to the rules of the election” Gunn said.
He called on all the political parties in the state to do their campaign peacefully, saying that election will come and go.
“We are here today because we went all our youth to come close to God,” he said.
He thanked the church and his members for coming out in their numbers to ensure the event went peacefully.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman, NYCN, Rivers East, Amb Napoleon Jumbo Spiff expressed joy for the turnout of the youth for the event.
According to him, the Okrika people before now know what they were passing through in the past years among youth, saying that for them to come together to seek the face of God is remarkable.
He urged them to continue to have truth in God, saying that they should forget the past and understand themselves for the way forward.
The NYCN vice chairman said that they should all go and get their PVC and vote for the right candidate that will oversee the affairs of the Okrika people.
Earlier, the Head Pastor of the TYC of Okrika, Pastor Erasmus Thomas applauded the youth council for the vision of seeking the face of God, adding that if the youth are not in the right direction of God, they will face a lot of issues.
He pleaded with the youth that at all time, they should key into the vision of God as that is the way for greatness and which can make them to succeed.
