ACOMIN Tasks Stakeholders On Increased Collaboration
Stakeholders involved in HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (ATM) intervention in Rivers State have been charged to increase their collaboration for improved result.
National delegation of the Civil Society on Malaria Control, Immunisation and Nutrition (ACOMIN), gave the charge during its three-day 8th Quarterly Supportive Supervision and Monitoring visit to the Rivers State.
The delegation, led by Financial Manager of ACOMIN, Bola Vaughan, commended the engaged organisations and other stakeholders, but noted that more was needed to achieve set objective.
“From what we have seen so far , coupled with the report sent to us at the national office, I think we are really doing well.
“We really commend the efforts of the organisations, and CBOs engaged on the intervention. But we are not there yet , and I want to believe that we can do much more better.
“While we commend them for their wonderful efforts, we are encouraging them to do more”, she said.
Vaughan noted that since the intervention would not be forever and the intervention being community based, there was need for the communities benefitting from the health facilities to take leadership and ownership of the facilities and to continue even when the engaged organisations exit .
According to her, “ by doing so, the service uptake in the facilities would be enhanced and taking ownership, seeing the facility as their own, will bring the facility to expected position we want it to be.”
The delegation also commended the media for the support it was giving through which the activities were being heard.
“We urge you to help continue to do the good work you are doing to help us amplify all these issues to relevant stakeholders to help us achieve expected objective of the intervention,” she said.
She explained that the national delegation covers 18 states under the CLM grant being sponsored by NACA on the ATM intervention for which Rivers State is included.
