MOSIEND Charges Kalabari Monarchs On Peace, Unity
The Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has called on Kalabari traditional rulers to promote peace and unity in Ijaw land and the Niger Delta at large
The mass mobilisation organisation also urged Ijaw monarchs to emulate the leadership qualities of the late Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, His Majesty (Prof) Theophilus Princewill, Amachree xi.
President of MOSIEND, Comrade Kennedy Tonjo-West, said this shortly after a peaceful procession in honour of the late Amanyanagbo of Kalabari by MOSIEND, a mass mobilisation organisation in the Niger Delta in the streets of Port Harcourt yesterday to honour the fallen hero.
Comrade Tonjo-West appealed to the successor to the Kalabari throne to ensure peace, oneness and promote love in all the Ijaw clans and Niger Delta region.
“The successor to the Amanyanabo of Kalabari throne should be a man of peace, emulate his leadership deposition, footprints and the ways and manners he related with other ethnic nationalities in the region to enhance peace, unity and progress”, he said.
Describing the late Amanyanabo as a peacemaker, Comrade Tonjo-West called on chiefs, elders and youths in the region to emulate the late monarch’s leadership style to attract investors to the region.
“Whosoever that will emerge as the next Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom should emulate the late King’s leadership qualities and unite all Kalabari communities”, he said.
The late monarch, the MOSIEND leader said, “was a man of the people, a problem solver in the entire Niger Delta communities”.
He further called on the late monarch’s successor, chiefs, elders and youths in Ijaw land to emulate the lifestyle of the late Amanyanabo, whose leadership style, he said, “cut across the length and breath of the region”.
He noted that MOSIEND decided to embark on a peaceful procession in honour of the late Kalabari monarch in the streets of Port Harcourt to create awareness about the burial slated for Thursday, 30th November, 2023 in Buguma, the headquarters of Asari-Toru Local Government Area.
The procession witnessed leaders of MOSIEND drawn from various clans in Ijaw land, youth groups, dancing groups, and various cultural displays.
