Community Reaffirms Support For Council Boss
The people of Oyorokoto Coastal Community in Andoni Local government Area have joined the growing list of Communities in the area to reaffirm their support and loyalty to the Andoni Council Chairman, Erastus Awortu, for restoring lasting peace in the local government.
The peace, they said, has engendered socio-economic growth since he assumed office in 2021.
The executives of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Oyorokoto, during a courtesy visit on the Andoni council chairman, at the council secretariat in Ngo, recalled that before the inception of the Awortu administration, Andoni was in a terrible situation ravaged by insecurity due to cultism and gangsterism.
The CDC Chairman of Oyorokoto, Mr. Abbey Adasi Dandison, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said it is not in doubt that people fled their homes and communities in the wake of the restiveness in the area.
He recalled that the council chairman “decisively tackled the menace of insecurity, righting all the wrongs and changed the negative narratives of Andoni on assumption of office through the help of God”.
Noting that Oyorokoto was among the areas hit by insecurity before the inception of the Awortu administration, Dandison said “the ugly story has changed today as there is now prevailing peace in the area”.
According to him, as a community that has benefitted immensely from the laudable efforts of the Andoni council chairman, they felt a sense of satisfaction and gratitude to pay him a courtesy visit to express their appreciation and reaffirm their support and loyalty to him.
The delegation was led by the Okan Ama of Oyorokoto, Chief Abbey Green Ngoh.
In his response, the Andoni Council Chairman, Barrister Erastus Awortu, thanked the leaders of Oyorokoto Community for the visit and urged them to support the effort of government by keeping the peace in their domains.
He assured that his administration would sustain the gains recorded in the area of security and other areas of governance.
