Monarch Urges Investment In Girl Child
The Eze Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area, King Leslie Nyebuchi Eke, Eze Gbakagbaka has described investment in the girl child as the bedrock of societal development.
Eke said this at the celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day which held at his palace in Woji Town.
Such investment he said , should be reflective through equal and accessible right to basic fundamental needs by the girl child.
‘’ I choose to celebrate with the women of Evo Kingdom today at my palace , because women are foundational to the very existence of man and its institutions.
“When the society invests in women, then it is building catalyst for economic , social and political growth”, he said.
The Evo monarch also urged for platforms where equality amongst genders can be encouraged, with a view to giving women more voice in the society.
Eke further called on all to shun all forms of socio – cultural indoctrinations and stereotypes targeted at demeaning the true authenticity of womanhood , and added that such was against the laws of peaceful co- existence .
On how to have a functional society, he charged the government, organisations and institutions to ensure that women inclusiveness was encouraged.
In support of the women’s growth agenda, the Eze Evo also gave his nod for the commencement of the Evo women empowerment exercise .
This he said, was targeted at helping the women become more productive versions of themselves.
The Senior Special Adviser to the King on Women Affairs and Environment . Ruwhwoma Nnodi , thanked the Royal father for deeming it worthy to celebrate the women of Evo kingdom on such memoriable day.
“ I thank our Royal father , for such thoughtful and colourful celebration . It indeed showcases a gender friendly Evo stool, and a King worth emulating ‘’ she said.
Earlier in their addresses, Princess Ure Ejims and Sylvaline Odum, charged women to inculcate an attitude of intentionality, discipline and productivity and raise generations of formidable Women.
They hammered on educating the Girl Child as such among other things, will bring peace to the family and the society at large.
