MOSIEND Hails Fubara, NDDC’s Support For Okilo’s 16th Anniversary Ceremony

The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his supports towards the successful hosting of late Chief Melford Obiene Okilo 16th Memorial Anniversary ceremony.
Okilo was the first elected civilian Governor of old Rivers State.
MOSIEND also commended the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku, for the significant role he played towards the success of the programme.
The group said that the Melford Okilo Foundation, members of his family and the entire Izon Nation are proud of Governor Fubara and Dr Ogbuku for their contributions towards the successful hosting of the anniversary.
MOSIEND, in a statement signed by its National President, Dr. Kennedy Tonjo-West, who doubles as Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the anniversary, also expressed gratitude to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo; traditional leaders and other stakeholders who made the event colourful.
West, in the statement, also thanked former President Goodluck Jonathan, and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan; Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, and his wife, Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Dr Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jerki V; former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Ada George, former Ijaw National Congress President, Prof Atuboyedia Obianime, and Ann Kio Briggs for their support to the Chief Melford Okilo Endowment Fund.
MOSIEND commended Ogbia Brotherhood, Ijaw Youth Council and other socio-cultural organisations who worked tirelessly to see that the event held successfully without any hitches.
The statement prayed God Almighty to reward every one of them accordingly; saying that, for coming to celebrate the selfless and worthy legacies of late Chief Okilo, they have already laid the foundation for others to celebrate with them.
