movie industry popularly known as Nollywood, the third largest movie industry in the world after Hollywood of America and Bollywood of India has released new block buster movies that are making waves and holding viewers spell bound in the various cinema houses across the country and beyond. Among the new movies that are currently showing at the silver bird cinemas, former Obi Wali cultural centre Abonnema wharf road Port Harcourt include:-
Head Gone: This is a comedy movie of errors that features Nigeria’s finest entertainers. The story is about a psychiatric hospital bus driver who loses some patients on referral to a federal hospital in road mishap. To cover up their mistake, the driver and nurse assistant picks up unsuspecting commuters to substitute the patients, the plot thickens in conflict as the sane commuters tries to prove their sanity in a psychiatric instruction and the escapees patients try to adjust to a new environment.
The hilarious movie features to Nigerian entertainers like Ali Baba, Basket mouth, 2 face Idibia, Barsorge Tariah Jnr, Ik Osakioduwa, Akpororo, Eniola Badmus, wale Oje and Yomi Obileye. Others include Tunji Shoti Mirin, Tunde Balana, Hafeez Oyetoro aka-Saka, Zack Orji, Sound Sulfan, Director Dare Fasasi aka Baba Dee etc.
Folly (Beyond forgiveness): This drama and crime movie features Yvonne Nelson, Uche Jumbo, Joke Sylva, Benjamin Joseph etc. synopsis:- it is about when a strange wife brutally murders her own sister and her beloved husband for having an affair. She must face the repercussion of her actions with the fruit of that affair.
This is a drama movie that features Mayid Micheal, Alex Ekubo, Mbong Amata and Rosemary Zimu etc. Synopsis:- it is about a young couple, Tare and champagne who have fallen and hard times and decides to engage in an open marriage to make ends meet. At first things seem to be going well until they met the enigmatic Douglas who takes them in a direction they never thought they would go.
Gone Too Far:- This is a British/Nigerian comedy produced by Poisson Rouge pictures and cofounded by the British film institute starring O.C. Ukeje, Adelayo Adedayo, Malachi Kirby, Bhasker Patel, Poojah Shah, Tosin Cole and directed by fast rising female British/Nigerian Director in the UK, Destiny Ekaragha
Ikudayisi (O.C. Ukejeh) travels from Nigeria wearing socks and sandals to meet his estranged brother, Yemi for the first time in Peckham Yemi (raised in the UK questions both his judgement and Africa heritage .O.C. Ukeje plays the comical role of a typical bush African in the midst of fush folks. A day on the estate filled with danger, excitement and romance teaches them the values of family self respect and makes gone too far a movie you cannot afford to miss.
Heaven Hell: A psychological thriller produced and directed by Katung Aduwak (Big Brother Nigeria Winner) will hit cinemas on January 23rd 2015. The movie stars Nse Ikpe Etim. Bimbo Akintola, Damilola Adegbite, Chet Anekwe, Fabian Adeoye Olojede, O. C. Ukeje, Kalu Ikeagwu and Gideon Okeke.
Hevens Hell is based on a true story, unveils the lives of two housewives who are best friends (played by Nse and Bimbo) and that of their husbands (played by Fabian and Chet). Their lives are held together by a rock solid friendship but soon laced with deceit, betrayal and lurking darkness. It is a movie that will keep your eyes riveted on the big screen.
The Department: This movie is a break away from the usual norm of storytelling. A secret organsiation tagged “The Department” run by young professionals, blackmails, to executives into selling their companies to the man behind the Department. Two loves opt out of the Department and the pressure, intrigues, blackmail from the group soon tests their love for each other. The action, romance, crime genre parades stars such as Majid Michel, Osas Igbodaro, Jide Kosoko, Desmond Elliot, Funky Mallam and Seun Akindele.
The movie is billed for release today, January 30th 2015.

My Relationship With Davido Beyond Money, Gossip -Cubana Chief Priest
Popular businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, has said that his relationship with singer Davido is beyond money and gossip.
He stated this in a recent interview with BBC Igbo.
“Davido is my friend. He is my in-law; he married Chioma who is from Imo State where I hail from.
“So the relationship I have with Davido is beyond money and gossip,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that Chief Priest disclosed via his Instagram page that his outfit for the wedding of the singer, Davido and his wife, Chioma, in Lagos on Tuesday cost seven million Naira.
The socialite recently appreciated Davido for not “discarding” Chioma.
He stated that the DMW boss has made Imo State proud by choosing to marry from the state.

Simi Joins Kenya’s Anti-Tax Protests
Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has lent her voice to the ongoing anti-tax hike protests in Kenya.
The Tide’s source reports that Kenyan youths are marching against tax hike in widespread demonstrations tagged ‘RejectFinanceBill2024.’
Five people were shot dead and dozens wounded after police clashed with protesters who stormed the parliament building in Nairobi on Tuesday, according to Amnesty Kenya.
Reacting via her X handle on Tuesday night, Simi declared her support for the demonstrators.
She stated that “it is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights.”
The singer wrote, “I stand with the people of Kenya. It is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights. Godspeed and Strength. [Hash tag] RejectFinanceBill2024.”
In a series of other posts, she wrote: “Wow. When you’ve had enough, the fight is almost inevitable.
“African leaders- have not you done enough?
“I can’t wait for the day Africa is not a weapon fashioned against Africans. All of this amazing Black power and human resource, but the majority are not likely to thrive unless they run.”

Davido, Zlatan, Others In Attendance At Asake’s Atlanta Concert
Famous Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Davido was spotted among other top artistes at Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour concert in Atlanta, Georgia.
Asake’s performance at his sold-out show at the 17,000-capacity State Farm Arena in Atlanta began on August 16, 2024, and is set to run for 10 days.
In a trending video on social media, Davido appeared backstage with American rapper Quavo to support Asake during the live performance.
Other musicians in attendance included Nigerian hitmaker Zlatan and American rapper Russ Millions.
The Tide’s source reports that Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour is set to cover six U.S. cities, where he will headline notable venues including Madison Square Garden in New York, the Toyota Center in Houston, and the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Asake’s tour comes just days after the release of his latest hit, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which features several superstars, including Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, Travis Scott and Brazilian singer Ludmilla.
‘Lungu Boy’ set a new record for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria, garnering 18.9 million streams in its opening week and breaking the previous record of 14.4 million streams held by Davido’s ‘Timeless.’
