How Fiona Amuzie Won 2010 MBGN Crown … As Miss Rivers EmergesSecond Runner-Up
Though the widely publicised most beautiful girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2010 Beauty Pageant, which happens to be the 23rd edition of the national beauty event has come and gone, the contest lost and won, the memories of that historic day of May 22nd 2010 at the New Exhibition Hall, Eko Hotel and Suits, Victoria Island, Lagos, still remain ever green in the minds of those who were opportuned to watch or witness the activities live.
That eventful day, marked the victory of Miss Plateau State, Amuzie Aforma Fiona, over 29 other contestants to clinch the coveted crown. She was later crowned by her predecessor, Glory Chukwu. The first runner-up in the keenly contested pageant went to Miss Niger, Odalonu Ngozi, Miss Rivers, Nengi Wariboko was crowned second runner up, while Miss Ekiti, Obiora Charity Chineye and Miss Gombe, Lynda Dunkwu emerged third and fourth runners up respectively.
According to our sources, the winner of the 2010 MBGN, Amuzie Fiona, who becomes the 23rd MBGN queen went home with three million naira, a Subaru Saloon car and will represent Nigeria at this year’s Miss World Beauty Pageant in Vietnam. The first runner up Odalonu Ngozi will represent the country at Miss Universe Pageant, while the second runner-up, Nengi Wariboko will take part in the Miss Tourism Pageant and the third runner up Obiora Charity will represent the country at the Miss ECOWAS Beauty Pageant.
It was gathered that the beauty pageant organised by the Silver Bird group and sponsored by some corporate organisations also produced other categories of winners who include: Miss Ebonyi, Shalom Obi who becomes the face of Select PRO cosmetics for one year, in addition to N500,000 cash and a trip to London. Miss Taraba, Oyaole Rosabel, emerged the new Miss photogenic, Miss Amity Award went to Miss Kwara, Chukwueke Chineye, while the best traditional costume went to Miss Niger Delta, Osiki Onorna. Miss Abuja, Onyeka Martina Udechukwu became the fourth face of sera from the stable of classic beverages, makers of La casera, she also went home with the sum of one million naira cash.
Before the fifteen out of thirty contestants were chosen, they made three appearances in their traditional wears, swim suits and the evening wears which was the basis upon which the judges drew their appraisal from. At the end of the third appearance, the judges made up of Richard Harts, chairman, Eko Hotels, Agbani Derego, former MBGN winner and Miss World, Sarah Boulus, former Mr. Nigeria Bryan Okpara, Omowunmi Akinifesi and Nadia Lotova, all agreed that the top fifteen contestants had scaled the first hurdle.
It was further gathered that they were chosen based on short SMS messages which afforded many contestants opportunity of having their friends and well wishers vote for them as many times as possible, an avenue which threw up the final 15. Apart from the entertainment the guests got from the contestants, they were also thrilled by traditional dancers from all the six geo political zones across the country as well as Yemi Alade, winner of Peak Talent Hunt Show, Timi Dakolo and Jeffery Daniels an American Singer cum dance instructor to late King of Pop music Micheal Jackson who performed the famous moon walk dance steps on stage.
Other celebrities that graced the occasion include: Chief Festus Odumegwu, MD, Nigerian Breweries, MBGN queen 2007, Munachi Abi, Paul Okoye of P-Square among others. It was indeed a night to remember.

My Relationship With Davido Beyond Money, Gossip -Cubana Chief Priest
Popular businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, has said that his relationship with singer Davido is beyond money and gossip.
He stated this in a recent interview with BBC Igbo.
“Davido is my friend. He is my in-law; he married Chioma who is from Imo State where I hail from.
“So the relationship I have with Davido is beyond money and gossip,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that Chief Priest disclosed via his Instagram page that his outfit for the wedding of the singer, Davido and his wife, Chioma, in Lagos on Tuesday cost seven million Naira.
The socialite recently appreciated Davido for not “discarding” Chioma.
He stated that the DMW boss has made Imo State proud by choosing to marry from the state.

Simi Joins Kenya’s Anti-Tax Protests
Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has lent her voice to the ongoing anti-tax hike protests in Kenya.
The Tide’s source reports that Kenyan youths are marching against tax hike in widespread demonstrations tagged ‘RejectFinanceBill2024.’
Five people were shot dead and dozens wounded after police clashed with protesters who stormed the parliament building in Nairobi on Tuesday, according to Amnesty Kenya.
Reacting via her X handle on Tuesday night, Simi declared her support for the demonstrators.
She stated that “it is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights.”
The singer wrote, “I stand with the people of Kenya. It is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights. Godspeed and Strength. [Hash tag] RejectFinanceBill2024.”
In a series of other posts, she wrote: “Wow. When you’ve had enough, the fight is almost inevitable.
“African leaders- have not you done enough?
“I can’t wait for the day Africa is not a weapon fashioned against Africans. All of this amazing Black power and human resource, but the majority are not likely to thrive unless they run.”

Davido, Zlatan, Others In Attendance At Asake’s Atlanta Concert
Famous Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Davido was spotted among other top artistes at Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour concert in Atlanta, Georgia.
Asake’s performance at his sold-out show at the 17,000-capacity State Farm Arena in Atlanta began on August 16, 2024, and is set to run for 10 days.
In a trending video on social media, Davido appeared backstage with American rapper Quavo to support Asake during the live performance.
Other musicians in attendance included Nigerian hitmaker Zlatan and American rapper Russ Millions.
The Tide’s source reports that Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour is set to cover six U.S. cities, where he will headline notable venues including Madison Square Garden in New York, the Toyota Center in Houston, and the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Asake’s tour comes just days after the release of his latest hit, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which features several superstars, including Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, Travis Scott and Brazilian singer Ludmilla.
‘Lungu Boy’ set a new record for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria, garnering 18.9 million streams in its opening week and breaking the previous record of 14.4 million streams held by Davido’s ‘Timeless.’
