Voters Registration:HOS Commends Omuma Indigenes
Despite the initial hiccups experienced at the commencement of the voters registration exercise, the Rivers State Head of Service, Esther Anucha, has commended the people of Omuma local government area for participating massively in the exercise.
Mrs Anucha gave the commendation Wednesday shortly after monitoring the exercise in some parts of the local government area.
She expressed satisfaction with the people’s participation even with the initial challenges and urged those who had not registered to avail themselves following the recent extension by the senate.
The Head of Service said that the exercise extension had become necessary considering the earlier challenges encountered by officials in registering the citizenry.
Commenting on complaints by some of the Registration Officials over shortage of materials, the Rivers State Head of Service promised that their complaints would be chanelled to the appropriate authorities for immediate attention.
Also, the Public Relations Officer of the Post Primary Schools Board, Hon. Chidi Oluoh, who accompanied the HOS in the town attributed the huge turnout of eligible voters to the aggressive sensitisation campaigns and the new consciousness instilled on the citizenry.
Supervisor for Education in the Local Government Area, Mr. Leo Anyanwu told the HOS entourage that the Registration Officers were paid their allowances regularly while efforts are being made to address shortage of registration materials in the area.
The Head of Service was also accompanied by her daughter, Miss Ukaria Anucha and others who registered at the various centres commended the registration officers for the ease in carrying out the exercise.
Among units monitored by the HOS and her entourage include Umuechere, Umuakirikpo, Awaji, Umuebie, among others.
