Tribunal Verdict: APC Hopes To Upturn Outcome At Appeal Court
Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko said on Saturday that the party would reclaim the state govership seat at the Appeal Court.
Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, said while addressing party supporters at his residence in Sokoto, that the judgement of the Tribunal which affirmed the election of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, was wrong.
According to him, APC as a peaceful and law abiding party, will continue to follow all legal processes to claim the mandate given to it by the people.
“I want assure you that we will continue to pursue our mandate which was stolen, to the end.
“Sokoto state is an APC state and will continue to remain so, as such I urge all our supporters to remain calm and law abiding. Very soon the law will reveal the true picture of the election.
“We should continue to pray for the success of our party, Sokoto state and the country at large,” Wamakko said.
Earlier, the state APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, thanked the people for their continued support to him and the party.
“The crowd we are seeing today is an indication of support and dedication by the people of Sokoto state to the APC and all its leaders.
“On the tribunal judgement there is no cause alarm; we will continue to work with our lawyers, as we will soon file an appeal to that effect.
“As you all know, even if the tribunal judgement is in our favour, the opposition will appeal the judgment.
“So, in our own case we will do the same to restore our mandate,” he said.
Our source recalls that the state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Oct. 2, in Abuja affirmed the election of Tambuwal.
The three man tribunal led by Justice Abbas Bawale dismissed the petition of the APC and its candidate Aliyu, for lacking in merit.
Tambuwal won the March 23 governorship election with a slim margin of 342 votes.

NASS Sets Date For 2025 Budget Passage
Chairman, Senate committee on appropriations, Sen. Solomon Adeola, stated this on Monday in Abuja at a meeting with the chairmen of standing committees in the Senate.
According to him, Jan. 31 is the date for laying of reports on the appropriation bill before the Senate and the House of Representatives.
He said upon resumption from Christmas and New Year break on Jan. 14, both chambers of the national assembly would suspend plenary for two weeks for budget defence by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
Sen. Adeola also said that NASS had fixed Jan. 9 for an open day on the budget to enable various stakeholders, aside heads of MDAs, to make inputs on the budget.
“A tentative time table has been drawn for consideration of the budget at committee level.
“Budget defence sessions begin from Jan. 7, while reports from various committees are expected to be submitted from 15th to 18th of this month.
“Afterwards, collation and tidying up of the various reports will be done by the appropriation committee, with the hope of laying final report on the budget at the Senate on 31st of this month.
“However, the 31st of January fixed for laying of the budget is tentative, as it is just given to guide our work,” he said.
The principal officers of the Senate who attended the meeting included: the Deputy Leader, Sen. Lola Ashiru and Senate Whip, Sen. Tahir Monguno.
They said that the timeframe for consideration and passage of the 2025 budget by the national assembly was short.
They, however, expressed hope on the timely passage of the budget.
The committee, thereafter, went into a closed door session with chairmen of the various standing committees in the Senate.
