Police Confirm Release Of Okrika LG Boss By Abductors
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Chairman of the Okrika Local Government Council, Hon Philemon Iwoloma Kingoli from his abductors.
Kingoli, who was kidnapped on April 6, by unknown gunmen, regained his freedom after spending eight days in the hands of his captors.
The police, in a statement released in Port Harcourt, last Wednesday, and signed by spokesperson of the command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, said the Okrika council boss was rescued Tuesday night in a covert operation by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command.
He added that Kingoli has been taken to the hospital, debriefed and released to reunite with his family.
The statement read, “The Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area, Chief Philemon Iwoloma Kingoli, who was kidnapped on Tuesday, 6/4/2021, by unknown gunmen has been freed.
“He was rescued last night in a covert operation by the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, taken to the hospital, debriefed and released to reunite with his family”.
