RSG Tasks Medical Doctors On Service Delivery
The Rivers state Government has called on the leadership of the National Association of Government General Medical & Dental Practitioners, Rivers State Branch to advise its members posted to rural communities in the state to always be at their duty posts when required.
The Head of Service, Dr George C. Nwaeke gave the advice while hosting members of the Association in his office in Port Harcourt.
He clarified that the idea of promoting civil servants which led to the last promotion exercise in the state, and the N100,000.00 Christmas bonus were purely the initiative of Governor r Siminalayi Fubara and not himself.
Dr. Nwaeke observed that some Doctors posted to rural communities do not take their postings seriously noting the trend to be detrimental to the health of the people in particular and the state in general.
He described the job specifications of members of the association as crucial to the survival of the state in particular and the country in general.
The Head of Service assured the association that the government was its partner in progress and therefore poised to do things that will impact positively on the welfare needs of its members.
Dr Nwaeke again advised the association to focus more on positioning its members properly to attract and benefit from professional trainings sponsored by the government.
On the issue of deductions of National Housing Fund and non remittance to the Federal Mortgage Bank, the Head of Service assured that the issue will be properly handled by the authorities in a way that would be most beneficial to members of the association.
Dr. Nwaeke cautioned the leadership of the association not to turn its back on the umbrella union being Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) because of its associated benefits.
He however, assured that the welfare of Resident Doctors is being handled by the government as the matter had been raised earlier by Nigeria Medical Association.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Woke Iheanacho Alexander in his address congratulated the HOS on his appointment by the Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS.
He also eulogized the Head of Service for the successful conduct and implementation of the last promotion exercise in the state after several years of stagnation.
The Chairman used the occasion to present some challenges faced by the association before the Head of Service. He enumerated issues such as: inadequacy of Doctors in the system, non-implementation of the CONMESS salary structure in the state, non availability of regular trainings in the system, non promotion of members due to absence of constituted board members, non remittance of National Housing Fund deductions to Federal Morgan Bank, and non payment of Resident Doctors.
Dr Alexander however, prayed that God’s guidance be unto the Head of Service and his entire staff to enable him succeed in all his acstate after several years of stagnation

Rivers Judiciary Denies Reports On SOLAD’s Sack
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied claims of media reports online that a judge of its High Court issued a ruling in favour of Governor Siminalayi Fubara against former Governor Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu allegedly sacking the Sole Administrator of the State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd).
A statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the State High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi, on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, described the purported report as false and misleading, particularly for linking a judge of the State High Court, Justice Boma Diepiri, to a ruling that reportedly came from a Federal High Court.
According to the statement, Justice Diepiri is a Judge of the Rivers State High Court and not of the Federal High Court and currently on Easter vacation, which commenced on Monday, 14th April.
The Chief Registrar further clarified that the Federal High Court and the State High Court are separate entities, stressing that “the inclusion of Justice Diepiri’s name in the fabricated report underscores the crass ignorance of the author”.
The statement, signed by Ihua-Maduenyi, reads in part, “The attention of the Rivers State Judiciary has been drawn to a fake news report alleging that His Lordship, Hon. Justice Boma Diepiri, delivered a judgment sacking the Sole Administrator of Rivers State. This is false in its entirety.
“Justice Diepiri is a judge of the High Court of Rivers State, not of the Federal High Court as was falsely reported.
“Additionally, His Lordship is currently on Easter vacation which began on Monday, April 14, 2025”.
It advised the general public and members of the media to always cross checked information concerning the judiciary before publishing, and disregard the said report in its entirety, saying “its an embodiment of falsehood and fabricated story”.
