The Chairman of Caretaker Committee of Okrika Local Government Council, Hon Princess Ibiene Ogan, has rolled out a business support scheme to empower the women and other vulnerable persons in the LGA.
The scheme, which is under the Concerned About Prosperity (CAP) initiative of the administration, will benefit over 1,000 indigenes of Okrika and strangers living in the area.
Flagging off the scheme at Okrika, Hon Ogan said the programme was in fulfilment of her promise to roll back poverty in the area.
She explained that the CAP was unveiled to give Okrika a facelift, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation, security and the provision of educational support to indigent students of the area.
According to her, the committee had before now embarked on free medical outreaches to communities in the LGA.
