Army Warns Oil Bunkerers, Pipeline Vandals
The Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt says it has now been transformed to combat acts of piracy, pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering, crude oil theft, illegal oil refining and kidnapping in Rivers State.
The Army Public Relations Officer, 2 Brigade Command, Port Harcourt, Lt. Col. Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement in Port Harcourt, advised illegal oil bunkerers and other criminals to desist from such acts henceforth or be prepared to face the action of the military.
Lt. Col. Iliyasu said the advice has become necessary against the backdrop that the Federal Government has strategised more than ever before to stem illegal oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism and other economic sabotage as well as kidnapping in the state.
According to him, the new posture was the fallout of the transformation process in which Sector 2 and 3 JTF operation ‘Restore Hope’ was repackaged and reformed as Sector 2 ‘Operation Pulo Shield’ covering Rivers and Bayelsa States.
The Army PRO used the occasion to solicit for information regarding the activities of the criminals, assuring that every piece of information would be given its confidentiality.
Meanwhile, the 2 Brigade/Sector 2 JTF ‘Operation Pulo Shield’ command has denied the allegation that the officers and men of the command invaded Teyor Kanni community in Khana Local Government Area of the state.
