Youth Council Embarks On Anti-Terrorism Campaign
In a bid to contain the insecurity situation in the country, the Nigerian Youth Council (NYC), says it is embarking on a sensitisation campaign across the country.
NYC Vice President and the African representatives to the World Youth Assembly, Ambassador Marvin Yobana who made the disclosure in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Tuesday said the council with some ethnic youth organisations in collaboration with the World Assembly of youths kicks started the campaign in the north central.
Yobana noted that the campaign tagged anti-terrorism campaign was aimed at educating community youth leaders on the dangers of involving themselves in acts of terrorism and insurgency.
He added that the campaign would enable them know what to do within their communities when there was any suspicious move.
“And we want to go beyond that. We want to ensure that the International Communities would be able to sanction certain individuals or even those officials in government who are linked to any act of terrorism and this is to ensure that violence terrorism is being checked,” Yobana explained.
On the security challenges in the country, the ambassador argued that the insurgency was being instigated by some political gladiators who felt that power has shifted from them.
He urged government told those inciting Nigerians to violence accountable base on their statements as they were treasonable.
