TIMARIV Descends On Drivers Over Wrong Parking
Following the continuous disregard to traffic regulations and order given by law enforcement agencies like the police as well as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) that vehicles should not load and off-load outside the Mile Three Motor Park, the Rivers State Traffic Management Authority (TIMARIV) has come down heavily on offending drivers.
As a wakeup call to all the drivers that operate in the area, TIMARIV officials have made their presence known to the public, particularly the drivers, as they have placed their TIMARIV sign post in all the strategic places in the area as a warning sign for “No parking, no loading and off-loading of passengers”.
The Tide gathered reliably that any driver found wanting will be made to face the music, as the sum of at least N50, 000 will be paid as fine, while men of the TIMARIV have already been positioned for enforcement.
Already, some drivers operating between Mile three and Rumuokoro seem not to find the new development very easy, as most of them are used to the quick service of loading outside the motor park.
Reacting to the development, the secretary of the Mile three branch of NURTW, Cyril Amadi, told The Tide that the union had to invite TIMARIV into the matter due to non adherence to earlier warning by these drivers.
Amadi posited that the coming of TIMARIV in the matter is beginning to yield results, as these drivers that load outside, now come to the park to operate, thereby increasing the revenue of the park.
