Minister Assures On More Employment Slots
The Minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, has assured indigenes of FCT of more employment slots in all tiers of government.
Mohammed made the pledge in Abuja, when FCT indigenes who recently passed out from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) paid him a courtesy visit.
He said that the indigenes would also be given more opportunities in various establishments, including the armed forces.
“Very soon we are going to recruit more people in every sector, including the Armed Forces.
“The indigenes should liaise with their area councils, so that they can be fully considered,’’
The minister commended the officers for visiting him after their passing out from the Nigerian Defence Academy, noting that it was his first time of receiving such officers.
“You all have shown that you are the true sons of your fathers, for paying me a courtesy visit after passing out from NDA.
“Since I assumed duty three years ago, I have not received any FCT indigene that graduated from NDA to come and say hello,’’ Mohammed said.
He advised the officers to represent the FCT in their different places of posting with humility, dignity and patriotism.
He said that the FCT Administration would continue to support FCT indigenes with rights due to them.
He directed his special adviser on political matters “to give them support”, adding that inventory would be taken to ascertain the number of FCT indigenes currently serving in the armed forces.
Mohammed said that the Land Swap Programme, initiated by his administration would not bring impediment to acquisition of land but to provide infrastructure and services for the development of Nigeria.
Earlier, 2nd Lt. Mohammed Danjuma, who spoke on behalf of the officers, said their visit to the minister was to receive fatherly blessing before reporting to their various units.
