Rumuji Community Rejuvenates Cultural Festivities

Emohua Local Government Area (EMOLGA), of Rivers State was agog with cultural festivities last Saturday as the Ohna in Council inaugurated a new Council of Chiefs with Eze (Hon) Bob Chima Okala, former caretaker chairman of EMOLGA as the new chairman, Rumuji Council of Chiefs (RCC).
The event witnessed a rejuvenation of the community’s cultural heritage, music, dance and drama with other side attractions which turned the occasion into a fun fair. The event attracted the who is who in the political arena, captains of industries, traditional rulers and distinguished personalities including the former Chief of Staff, Government House, Rivers State, Chief (Barr) Eme Glory Eme and former Chairman of EMOLGA, Engr. Emeka Woke among others.
In his address at the occasion, the Paramount Ruler of Rumuji Community, Ohna Christian Elechi congratulated the new chairman, Hon Bob Okala. He noted that the day marks a new dawn of peace, unity and development in the community, considering the fact that the members of the council of chiefs have been tested and found worthy in character and tradition of the people.
Ohna Elechi enjoined the members to live above board, operate open door policies with transparency in order to usher in the desired development and peaceful co-existence in the community.
In his handover address, the former Chairman, Rumuji Council of Chiefs, Eze Sir, Obed O. Ekwueme (JP) stressed that the peaceful hand over to his successor, Eze (Hon) Bob-Chima Okala, The Eze Oha 1 of Rumuji was unprecedented as previous handovers were marred by controversies and crisis.
He urged people of the community to give his successor unalloyed support and abide by the moto of the community which is love, unity and progress. He called on the new chairman to embark on programmes that will promote the welfare of members, maintain peace and provide a platform for the expression of popular views that will carry the community forward.
Responding, his successor, Eze (Hon) Bob Chima Okala, noted that the day’s event epitomised a substantive part of Rumuji culture at the micro level and holistically represent a continum of the entire Ikwerre tradition as well as a socio cultural change of the rulership baton.
He stressed that the position of Rumuji is unique and even recognised by the colonialists, particularly, its vast traditions, cultural heritage and well advanced African religion which has remained a unifying factor despite the antics of the oil and gas companies operating in the community aimed at distracting the people and robbing Peter to pay Paul.
He assured that hopefully by the rulership mandate bestowed upon him as Chairman, Rumuji Council of Chiefs, he will work with everybody in order to restore lasting peace and progress in the community.
Popular businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, has said that his relationship with singer Davido is beyond money and gossip.
He stated this in a recent interview with BBC Igbo.
“Davido is my friend. He is my in-law; he married Chioma who is from Imo State where I hail from.
“So the relationship I have with Davido is beyond money and gossip,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that Chief Priest disclosed via his Instagram page that his outfit for the wedding of the singer, Davido and his wife, Chioma, in Lagos on Tuesday cost seven million Naira.
The socialite recently appreciated Davido for not “discarding” Chioma.

Famous Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Davido was spotted among other top artistes at Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour concert in Atlanta, Georgia.
Asake’s performance at his sold-out show at the 17,000-capacity State Farm Arena in Atlanta began on August 16, 2024, and is set to run for 10 days.
In a trending video on social media, Davido appeared backstage with American rapper Quavo to support Asake during the live performance.
Other musicians in attendance included Nigerian hitmaker Zlatan and American rapper Russ Millions.
The Tide’s source reports that Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ tour is set to cover six U.S. cities, where he will headline notable venues including Madison Square Garden in New York, the Toyota Center in Houston, and the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Asake’s tour comes just days after the release of his latest hit, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which features several superstars, including Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, Travis Scott and Brazilian singer Ludmilla.
‘Lungu Boy’ set a new record for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria, garnering 18.9 million streams in its opening week and breaking the previous record of 14.4 million streams held by Davido’s ‘Timeless.’
