Dickson Signs Three Bills Into Law
Governor Seriake
Dickson of Bayelsa, last Friday, signed three Bills into law.
They are the Micro-Finance and Enterprise Development, Bayelsa State Maritime Academy, and the Bayelsa State Polytechnic bills into law.
Dickson told newsmen in Yenagoa that the three laws would expand the economic base of the state and increase the number of educational institutions.
He said that the new maritime institution would be second to none in the training of seafarers in the country.
According to him, the government is taking youth empowerment to the next level, where they will be productive and contribute to the growth of the economy.
The governor said that his administration was desirous to impart positively on youths and improve the state economy.
He said the two new institutions, the Maritime Academy, Okpoama, and the Bayelsa Polytechnic, Aleibiri, were a step in the right direction.
The Speaker of Bayelsa House of Assembly, Mr Konbowei Benson, who presented the bills, commended the efforts of the governor in improving the standard of living of the people.
Benson said the signing of the Micro-Finance bill was timely because it was coming on the heels of the 20th edition of the international conference on Small and Medium Enterprises.
