Clergy Solicits Prayers For Amaechi
The presiding elder, African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Port Harcourt West District, Rev Azubuike Amadi has enjoined Christian faithful in the state to pray fervently for Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in carrying out the crusade of good governance in the state.
Rev Amadi who gave this advice during a send forth ceremony organised in honour of the first presiding elder of the district, Rev Mrs Bonye A. Fine Country over the weekend said time has come for Rivers people both at home and in the diaspora to embrace love, peace and progress being witnessed in the state.
According to the clergy, “as it is popularly said when the righteous rules the people rejoice, more than ever before, Rivers people are happy now because the administration of Gov Amaechi is providing us true and purposeful leadership.”
The man of God who was a former board member. Agricultural cereal Research Institute Bida reiterated that Amaechi’s plethora of policies and programmes are geared towards the upliftment of the living standard of Rivers people.
“The difference is apparently clear between Rivers State presently and before. The 250 Healthcare centres being constructed across the state, model primary schools, massive road constructions, greater Port Harcourt City, just to mention but a few are eloquent testimonies of Amaechi’s focused leadership in the state,” he remarked.
Rev Amadi who assumed office as the new presiding elder described the outgoing presiding elder, Mrs Fine Country as a generous, humane and God fearing person who contributed immensely to the development of the church.
“I am only praying that you extend your hands of fellowship to this district as you reign in Port Harcourt East. May God give me a double portion of your charisma to shoulder the responsibilities ahead,” said he.
The district secretary of the church, Idiowa Harrison also commended Rev Mrs Fine Country who he said was instrumental to the establishment of the church branches at Ulakwo, Okehi in Etche, Ozuoba and others. He regretted that the woman of God would be missed by members of the branch because of her motherly love and support which saw her as a strong pillar. “Let the pleasant and pathetic experiences you passed through in this district be your guide in your new location.”
In her own reaction, the out going presiding elder commended the members for the love and co-operation during her tenure and urged them to extend the same cordial relationship to the in-coming presiding elder.
She said as Christians, they should continue to hold onto God and work assiduously so that the church will continue to grow from strength to strength.
