RSG Lauds Air France Partnership In Transportation
The Rivers State Government has commended Air France KLM for its contributions to the economic growth of the state especially in the transport sector.
The State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, stated this yesterday in Port Harcourt at the flag-off of daily flights of Boeing 777-300 from the Port Harcourt International Airport to Paris.
Engr. Ikuru, who represented Governor Chibuike Amaechi at the event, expressed appreciation at the cordiality exhibited by Air France KLM, noting that it was an indication of true friendship between the state and the French people.
“The French people have shown that they are true friends by showing faith and staying back to join us recover Port Harcourt from the hands of criminals,” the Deputy Governor said and assured of the support of government in its operations in the state.
Earlier, Vice President of Air France, Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Jean-Claude Cros, stated that the flight of Boeing 777-300 daily to Paris will open a new chapter in Port Harcourt and Nigeria.
He disclosed that though Air France KLM has operated cargo flights from Port Harcourt for 25 years since 1997, the company has “brought the biggest plane to serve Port Harcourt as an international destination”.
“Air France KLM is the biggest airline operating in Nigeria. We are interested not just in flights but also in the local economy,” he noted.
Speaking, Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue State lauded the Federal government and the Governors of the Niger Delta states for the return of peace in the region and Air France KLM for its commitment to the economic growth of the country.
“I am happy with the Federal Government and the Governors of the Niger Delta that the Niger Delta is very peaceful. Air France KLM has shown confidence despite the kidnapping stories and has shown that the area is peaceful and business has come to stay,” he said.
